APP-1 SBus Centronics Printer Interface is a high-performance,Centronics-compatible interface implemented on a single-width SBus card.It drives a wide range of devices including plotters, dot matrixprinters, and laser printers. The interface includes an intelligentcontroller with a large character buffer to minimize CPU interrupts. Thisfeature is especially useful when printing high-resolution graphics ordownloading fonts.APP-1 performance was tested on a SPARC workstation driving a Hewlett-Packard Laser Jet III. It printed graphic documents six times faster thana serial connection at 19.2K baud. Features include:
